Entering the Nativity Fast

The Nativity fast is quickly approaching and it offers us a time to change. We have forgotten God. We have forgotten who Christ is and what it means to be Christian. We really have. Perhaps we have stuck to the rules, stuck to the ways of “should” and “ought to” but we have forgotten our true love. And it is our true love, Christ himself, that calls to us and says, “Remember.” It is remarkable how quickly we can forget. And so the Church offers us this time to prepare ourselves for the coming of our Bridegroom to be united to us. Let our hearts begin to burn with this love, this anticipation. Let our world be filled with the light that comes from Christ and knowing Him. Don’t waste this season on anything else.
